Long Beach : Health Facilities Bill

Share

The state Legislature has passed a bill that would allow Long Beach and four other cities to apply for state grants to construct health facilities.

One of only two bills sponsored by the City of Long Beach this year, the measure would allow city health departments that provide indigent and public health care to join counties in applying for capital financing from a special $30-million fund.

Long Beach officials, who plan a new Health Department building, have said they will apply to the special fund for help on that project if the bill is signed by the governor.

Other cities that provide full public health services and could apply for assistance are Pasadena, Berkeley, Vernon and San Joaquin.
