San Diego County Sheriff’s Department homicide detectives are investigating the disappearance of a 22-year-old Santa Ana woman Wednesday from a map stop along Interstate 8 sometime between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m., officials said.

Nancy Alison reportedly was driving west on Interstate 8 after leaving El Centro when her orange Volvo experienced engine trouble. A Sheriff’s Department spokesman said Alison stopped at the map stop two miles east of Lake Jennings Park Road and called her husband in El Centro. Her husband, who is in the Marine Corps, told her to call their Santa Ana neighbor to pick her up.

When the neighbor arrived, he found the car unlocked with its windows rolled down and Alison’s purse and luggage still in the car, the spokesman said.

Alison is described as white, about 5-foot-7 and weighing 120 pounds. She has shoulder-length brown hair and hazel eyes. She was last seen wearing a pale yellow shirt, light blue shorts and beige boat shoes, officials said.
