Irvine : UCI Sees 3% Rise in Funding for Research

Share

About a 3% increase in funding for research projects flowed into UC Irvine during the last school year, the university has announced.

University officials said UCI received $51,475,583 in the 1985-86 school year from federal, state, local and private sources for research. The amount was $1,440,815 above the research money for 1984-85, and the third consecutive year that research funding at UCI increased over the previous year.

“Despite intense competition and reductions in federal funding in some areas, campus researchers have continued to be successful in increasing the campus’ base of support from extramural sources,” said UCI Chancellor Jack W. Peltason. “I am quite proud of the accomplishments of the UCI faculty and the distinction their research awards bring to this campus.”
