Westminster : 13-Month-Old Girl Who Fell Into Swim Pool Dies
A 13-month-old girl who fell into her family’s swimming pool last Saturday died early Wednesday at Childrens Hospital of Orange County in Orange, police said.
Westminster Police Officer Larry Woessner said Chivon Kathleen Baird had been playing with relatives and other children at a family gathering at her Anawood Way home when her parents realized that she was missing. They found her floating in the deep end of the pool.
The child was pulled unconscious from the pool and given mouth-to-mouth resuscitation by a police officer within two minutes, Woessner said. The child was then taken by paramedics to Humana Hospital in Westminster before she was transferred to Childrens.
Woessner said that the swimming pool was unattended at the time the child fell in and that there was no gate between the pool and the patio where the family was gathered.
