A teen-age boy suffered a severe electrical shock Saturday when he climbed a support pylon of a monorail outside the Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim and touched its electrified rail, a hotel spokesman said.

Rick Morris said the boy, who was not identified, was trying to retrieve a hat from the top of the pylon shortly after midnight when he touched the rail and fell about 20 feet to the parking lot.

The boy was treated by paramedics and taken to the UCI Medical Center in Orange where he was listed in stable condition late Saturday. Morris said the boy was not a registered guest at the hotel.
