An unemployed Florida man plunged to his death Tuesday evening from the Laurel Street bridge in Balboa Park.
Witnesses said Jon Gerald Kloos, 20, of Tampa, was straddling the northern railing of the bridge before he jumped, falling into brush on the western side of California 163, according to the San Diego County coroner’s office.
Kloos’ parents told officials he left Florida with a friend in the spring of 1985 and had lived in several locations in Southern California since then.
