North Hollywood makeup artist Donald Lee Morse was ordered to stand trial for murder in the February deaths of two members of the Los Angeles Police Department’s bomb squad. After seven days of legal motions and preliminary hearing testimony, Los Angeles Municipal Judge Xenophon F. Lang ruled there was enough evidence to hold Morse, 37, to answer to two counts of murder and two counts of possessing explosives. The suspect could face the death penalty if convicted. Police went to Morse’s home on Feb. 8 to search for a gun that had been used Feb. 4 to wound an official of the makeup artists’ union. Police found two pipe bombs in the garage. Detectives Arleigh McCree and Ronald Ball dismantled one bomb but the second exploded as they worked on it. Arraignment for Morse, who remains jailed without bail, was set for Sept. 23 in Los Angeles Superior Court.
