Three Points Missed in U.S. Open Coverage
As an avid tennis fan, I was appalled to read in The Times that staff writer Julie Cart referred to Ivan Lendl as a nerd . This is unworthy of even an average sports figure, but to call the No. 1 men’s tennis player in the world a nerd reflects directly on the writer and the entire editorial staff of The Times sports department.
I would think that you would not allow such an insult to be printed in your paper. As of now, I consider The Times sports department to be made up entirely of nerds.
