Assault charges were dropped in Oroville against former boxing champion Bobby Chacon because of insufficient evidence, Butte County authorities said.

Chacon was charged with hitting Renee Vincent in the face last May in Chico, but Mike Ramsey, deputy district attorney, said there was not enough evidence for an assault charge.

Chacon and Vincent were married three weeks after the incident, but Vincent filed for divorce in August. The State Athletic Commission indefinitely suspended Chacon’s license in July because of the assault charge.
