Mike Faria Wins Scratch Main Event

Mike Faria of Colton won the four-lap scratch main event of the weekly speedway motorcycle racing program Friday night before 5,824 at the Orange County Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa. It was Faria’s third consecutive scratch main victory and his seventh of the season.

John Sandona of Riche Canyon was second, Brad Oxley of San Clemente third and Robert Pfetzing of Garden Grove.

In the five-lap handicap main, Louis Kossuth of La Habra overcame a 30-yard handicap to win. Kevin Kugh of Huntington Beach was second, Bob Ott of Burbank third, Dub Ferrell of Whittier fourth, Pfetzing fifth and Andy Northrup of Riverside sixth.

Kelly Imman of Costa Mesa won the second-division main and Mark Hanna of Pico Rivera won the third-division main.
