Two men ransacked a historic estate after tying up and gagging its caretaker in the fourth mansion break-in at the exclusive oceanside resort of Newport, R.I., in two months. The robbery at the Malbone estate, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, occurred a month after police and several mansion dwellers boasted they had beefed up security in the wake of the other break-ins. Suspects have been charged in two of the three other robberies. The thieves at Malbone stole a videocassette recorder and police had not yet determined if anything else had been taken.
