McNulty Eliminated From Stubbies
Brian McNulty of Capistrano Beach was the highest-ranked surfer to be eliminated Tuesday in the first day of competition at the Stubbies Pro International surfing tournament in Oceanside.
McNulty, ranked 27th in the world, was upset by Lonny Brothers of Solana Beach and Barry Wilson of Ventura.
Mike Cruickshank of Dana Point, the 1986 U.S. Pro Tour of Surfing champion, was upset by David Eggers of San Diego and Mike Gillard of Australia.
Today’s qualifying rounds begin at 6 a.m. The tournament continues through Sunday.
