Atlanta Falcon officials and players say they were unaware that former defensive lineman Wilson Faumuina, who died Friday in San Francisco, may have had heart problems during his pro career.

After the 32-year-old Faumuina died, his family said he had been unable to work because of crippling injuries suffered while playing with the Falcons, who made him a first-round draft pick in 1977 and cut him in 1982.

Falcon President Rankin Smith Jr. denied that the organization had hidden news of a potential health hazard from Faumuina.
