The Philadelphia 76ers sent center Clemon Johnson and a No. 1 draft pick to the Seattle SuperSonics for center Tim McCormick and forward Danny Vranes.

Johnson, an eight-year NBA veteran who has suffered from back problems in the last two seasons, has a career average of 6.61 points and 5.0 rebounds. He played as a backup center during his 3 1/2-year Philadelphia stint, which included the 76ers’ 1982-83 championship season.

Along with Johnson, the SuperSonics got the 76ers’ No. 1 pick for 1989.

Vranes, 27, at 6 feet 8 and 210 pounds, has developed a reputation for aggressiveness and intimidation during his five years in the league, 76er spokesman Harvey Pollack said.
