College Roundup : Irvine Women Top UCLA, Held to Scoreless Tie by UCSD
The UC Irvine women’s soccer team defeated the UCLA club team, 3-1, and tied UC San Diego, 0-0, Friday at the All Cal Tournament in Irvine.
Sophomore Karin Grelsson scored two goals and senior Valerie Dehn added another in the win over UCLA.
Irvine and UC Davis, which lead the four-team tournament with three points after the first of two days, play today at 10 a.m. on Crawford Field on the Irvine campus.
In Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. volleyball action:
San Diego State 3, Fullerton 2--The Titans (0-4, 6-12), led by Susan Herman’s 19 kills had a 2-1 lead in games over the nationally No. 1-ranked Aztecs (4-0, 23-0) before losing, 13-15, 15-2, 9-15, 15-4, 15-3.
University of the Pacific 3, UC Irvine 0--Despite Kris Roberts’ seven kills and and Dana Parker’s five, the Anteaters (1-3, 7-12) lost to the Tigers (3-1, 10-1) at Irvine.
In Golden State Athletic Conference volleyball action:
Azusa-Pacific 3, Southern California 0--The Vanguards (0-4, 0-11) got four kills from Kristy Woodburn and Collen Casidy in Costa Mesa.
