Duffy Waldorf of Tarzana and Vic Wilk of Sepulveda were among those who survived the final day of qualifying at the PGA sectional tournament at Valencia Golf Course on Friday, the first of a three-step process for professionals seeking an exemption to the PGA Tour.

Of the original field of 80 hopefuls seeking tour cards, only 39 advanced to the regionals next month at Bakersfield’s Rio Bravo Country Club.

Tommy Armour III of Dallas led individual qualifiers with a 72-hole total of 280 over the 7,100-yard course. Armour finished at 8 under par, a whopping nine shots better than Wilk and Waldorf, who finished in a three-way tie for second at 289.
