An artist who said he felt unappreciated was arrested on suspicion of setting three fires that caused an estimated $30,000 damage to a monastery in northern San Diego County--and to religious carvings and sculptures he was making. Tadeusz Lukjanczyk, 53, was arrested at his home in Twentynine Palms a day after the fires at the Prince of Peace Abbey in Oceanside. “He said he felt he was not paid enough for his work and that he was not appreciated,” said Oceanside Police Detective Bob Burke. Abbot Claude Ehringer said he feels that the artist should not be punished. “He needs rehabilitation,” the clergyman said. “He first came to us after he escaped from (an anti-drug program).”
