San Diego Volleyball : Pankopf Leads SDSU Sweep of Texas Tech

Renee Pankopf had 10 blocks and served three aces Thursday night to lead San Diego State to a sweep of Texas Tech in the first round of the University of Texas women’s volleyball tournament at Lubbock, Tex.

The Aztecs, ranked No. 1 in the country despite a loss Saturday to second-ranked Pacific, beat the Red Raiders, 15-13, 16-14, 15-9.

Kim Harsch had 14 kills and 3 aces, and Angelica Jackson had 11 kills to help SDSU improve its record to 25-1.

SDSU will play Georgia tonight at Austin. The Aztecs will meet Texas, ranked No. 7, Saturday in the final match of the round-robin tournament.

The Aztecs return to Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. play Monday night at Cal State Long Beach. SDSU doesn’t return home until Oct. 22 against Cal State Long Beach.
