Viewpoint / Letters : Will Everett Let Robinson Off the Hook?
All Ram fans deserve an apology from their smooth-talking leader, John Robinson. All last season, we were forced to endure his everlasting praise of too short, too slow and too inaccurate Dieter Brock while an obviously superior Jeff Kemp was tied to the pine. In his limited time, Kemp had shown a strong arm and excellent mobility but was never given a real shot at the starting position.
The season ends, Kemp goes to San Francisco, while another over-the-hill project, Steve Bartkowski, is brought in. For an update, Kemp has played marvelously since Joe Montana’s injury; the Rams continue to need an overhaul at their creaky quarterback post.
I hope Jim Everett turns out to be the player we all envision, at least for Robinson’s sake. Considering what the Rams paid for Everett, only years of All-Pro performances will let Robinson off the hook this time.
