Agencies Accepting Donations for Quake Relief

These agencies are set up to channel relief funds or supplies to San Salvador and to provide information: The American Red Cross--Checks or money orders earmarked for El Salvadoran earthquake relief can be mailed to the Los Angeles chapter of the Red Cross, P.O. Box 57930, 2700 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles 90057; the Orange County Red Cross, 601 N. Golden Circle Drive, Santa Ana 92711, or the Salvadoran Consulate, 634 S. Spring St., Los Angeles 90053.

Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church--People can leave clothing, food, and blankets at the church at 541 E. Central Ave., Santa Ana, between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.

Catholic Relief Services--The Diocese of Orange said parishioners can send contributions to the services, the social arm of U.S. bishops.

The Salvadoran Consulate--The consulate is also accepting clothing, blankets and other supplies. Lanterns are extremely helpful. The consulate is open 24 hours a day during the disaster period.

Medical Aid for El Salvador--The organization is seeking cash and medical supplies. The group’s address is Medical Aid for El Salvador, 6030 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles 90036.

Our Lady Queen of Angels Church--Checks and money orders can be sent in care of Our Lady Queen of Angels Church, 100 W. Sunset Blvd., Los Angeles 90012. All contributions will be sent to the Salvadoran Archdiocese for earthquake relief.

UNICEF Emergency Task Force--Checks should be made out to the UNICEF El Salvador Emergency Relief Fund and mailed to the U.S. Committee for UNICEF, 1875 Century Park East, Los Angeles 90067.

Salvadoran Earthquake Victims Committee--Checks or money orders should be made out to Salvadoran Earthquake Victims and sent to the Southern California Ecumenical Council, 1010 S. Flower St., Los Angeles 90015. Funds will go to Roman Catholic and Protestant churches in El Salvador.

Save the Children--Checks should be made out to the El Salvador Earthquake Fund, care of Save the Children, P.O. Box 970, Westport, Conn. 06881.

Oxfam (Oxford Committee for Famine Relief) American--Checks and money orders should be made out to Oxfam Committee, El Salvador Relief Fund, 115 Broadway, Boston, Mass., 02116.

Direct Relief International--Checks and money orders should be made out to Direct Relief International, P.O. Box 30820, Santa Barbara, 93130.

Operation California--Checks and money orders should be made out to Operation California, 7615 1/2 Melrose Ave., Los Angeles, Calif., 90046.
