Jeweler Slays Robbery Suspect

The manager of a Hollywood Boulevard jewelry store seized a gun during a struggle and shot to death a man who he said was trying to rob him. The wounded man, whose identity was not immediately known, died at Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center. Police said the suspect entered Fine Jewelry at 6531 Hollywood Blvd. about 10:20 a.m., argued with the manager and then tried to rob him.
