NFL Fines 10 Raiders for Their Parts in Brawl With Chiefs at Kansas City

It isn’t over till it’s over. Wednesday, the Raiders got another in their series of daily communications from the National Football League office, this one fining 10 of them for their parts in the Kansas City melee Oct. 5.

Howie Long got the big tab, $2,000, for his engagement with Brad Budde, in which he broke Budde’s nose. Nine other Raiders were fined $400 apiece, for a grand total of $5,600.

Monday, Greg Townsend was suspended for Sunday’s game at Miami. Based on his $125,000 salary, that’s the equivalent of a $7,800 fine.

This probably isn’t the end of it, either. The Raiders, who had a players-only meeting last week to discuss modes of protest, plan another one.

Are armbands possible?

“No comment,” Rod Martin said.

Sean Jones said they discussed wearing white armbands last week “to signify the death of (Pete) Rozelle. He can’t be alive and making calls like that.”
