The Soviet Union’s national basketball team will open a 13-game American tour in Sacramento Oct. 30, but sponsors of the game said they aren’t sure if star center Arvidas Sabonis will make the trip.

Sabonis, 7-2, is hailed as the best basketball player ever developed in Europe. He was drafted in the first round this year by the Portland Trail Blazers.
