Anaheim : $12,000 Worth of Hay Burned at Disneyland
A fire at Disneyland on Friday night destroyed 150 tons of hay stored in a shed on a back lot, a park spokesman said.
The fire began at 11:20 p.m. and was extinguished “in a matter of minutes” by Anaheim and Disneyland firefighters, said Anaheim Battalion Chief Steven Magliocco. No injuries were reported.
Fire crews still were sifting through the hay at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Magliocco said. “Every bale of hay has to be torn apart and wet down” to make sure the fire is completely out, he said.
Damage was limited to the hay, valued at $12,000, and the metal roof of the shed, said Disneyland spokesman Tony Perri. The hay was bed and feed for the horses used in the Big Thunder Ranch attraction and the Clydesdale horses that pull the park’s streetcars, Perri said.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, Magliocco said.
