An East San Diego woman was found stabbed to death in her home Saturday after an altercation with her husband, who later jumped to his death off the Coronado Bridge, police reported.

When San Diego police officers responded to a call of a family dispute at a residence in the 2100 block of Crenshaw Street at 4:45 a.m., they found the body of Rebecca Elwood, 34, in the master bedroom of the house. She had been stabbed several times with a hunting knife.

After questioning neighbors, police began searching for the victim’s husband, Gregory, 35, who had fled in his car. A short time later, officers were called to the Coronado Bridge, where they found an abandoned car owned by Elwood. His body was found about a half hour later in a dirt lot beneath the bridge.
