Mountain Bear, Hidden Light in Las Palmas

A field of seven headed by Mountain Bear and Hidden Light was entered Friday to run in today’s $100,000-added Las Palmas Handicap at Santa Anita’s Oak Tree meeting.

Mountain Bear will be ridden by Eddie Delahoussaye and was assigned high weight of 122 pounds for the 18th running of the 1 1/8-mile race for older fillies and mares on Santa Anita’s turf course.

Hidden Light will be ridden by Bill Shoemaker and was assigned 120 pounds.

Also entered were Shywing, who will be ridden by Laffit Pincay and was assigned 118 pounds; Outstandingly, Gary Stevens, 118 pounds; Justicara, Russell Baze, 118 pounds; Scoot, Fernando Toro, 112 pounds, and Darnit, Sandy Hawley, 110 pounds.

If all seven entries go to the post, the total purse will be $109,400 and the winner will collect $64,400.

A field of 10 headed by Vernon Castle and Cheapskate are entered in Saturday’s $75,000-added Volante Handicap, also a 1 1/8-mile race on Santa Anita’s turf course.

Vernon Castle will be ridden by Delahoussaye and is assigned high weight of 124 pounds for the 17th running of the race for 3-year-olds. Cheapskate will be ridden by Marco Castaneda and is assigned 120 pounds.

Among others entered are Double Feint, who will be ridden by Pincay and is assigned 119 pounds, and Armada, who will be ridden by Toro and is assigned 117 pounds.

If all 10 entries go to the post, the total purse will be $85,700 and the winner will earn $51,950.
