Jim Kelly, who takes losing personally, regained his winning touch Sunday at the expense of the winless Indianapolis Colts.

Kelly threw two touchdown passes to Andre Reed as the Buffalo Bills snapped a three-game losing streak with a 24-13 victory.

“I know I wanted to win this game,” said Kelly, who completed 20 of 31 passes for 252 yards. “I didn’t want anybody saying ‘a 1-6 Buffalo Bills team. What’s Jim Kelly doing?’ ”

Kelly, who signed an $8 million contract with Buffalo after spending two seasons in the USFL, connected with Reed on touchdown throws of 6 and 13 yards despite a sore right arm.

Kelly, who missed a day of practice this week, completed just 2 of his first 9 passes before rebounding.

Kelly’s performance helped the Bills climb to 2-5, but the Colts could blame no one but themselves for the loss that made them the NFL’s only 0-7 team.

The Colts, who had lost more fumbles than any other NFL team going into the game, fumbled on their first possession, and Buffalo’s Rodney Bellinger scooped up the loose ball and ran 15 yards for the game’s first score.

In addition, the Colts were called for 13 penalties, which cost them 151 yards and a touchdown.

“We had field position on many occasions,” Colts’ Coach Rod Dowhower said. “We just didn’t get the ball in there.”
