The Twin Cities Marathon’s games committee has upheld Nancy Ditz’s second-place finish in the Oct. 12 run.

The committee unanimously decided not to disqualify Ditz despite a protest by Cathie Twomey, the fourth-place finisher.

Twomey had alleged that Ditz got illegal help during the race from her husband, Bruce Mosbacher, and her friend and adviser, Rod Dixon. Martin Burke, marathon president, said Ditz did not receive any aid, although aid might have been offered.

Videotapes show Dixon and Mosbacher on the course with Ditz, but she appeared to ignore them, Burke said. The Athletics Congress has a rule prohibiting aid and assistance, but the games committee ruled that the person being aided must actually receive the aid before he or she can be disqualified, Burke said.
