Odom Begins Serving 90-Day Sentence
Former major league pitcher John (Blue Moon) Odom, convicted of selling cocaine to a co-worker 17 months ago, reported to the Orange County Jail in Santa Ana Thursday to begin serving a 90-day sentence.
Odom, 41, said he was singled out for punishment because he is a former big league player. “They have to do something to punish a guy, and I happen to be that guy,” he told reporters while awaiting processing by jail personnel.
As a member of the Oakland A’s, Odom appeared in three consecutive World Series starting in 1972. He retired from baseball in 1976.
