A Canoga Park man was shot and wounded by police, and three other men were arrested when police Thursday raided a house suspected of being used for selling cocaine, authorities said.

Robert Fuller, 20, was shot in an upper arm when he aimed a 12-gauge shotgun at Detective Gary Redel, 40, according to Los Angeles police Sgt. Sid Nuckles. Fuller was being held in County-USC Medical Center on suspicion of assaulting a peace officer with a deadly weapon, Nuckles said. He was listed in stable condition Friday.

Detectives seized 145 grams of “rock” cocaine with a street value of $55,000 and two 12-gauge shotguns at the house, in the 7700 block of Eton Avenue in Canoga Park, Nuckles said.

Police had been tipped that cocaine was being sold at the house, where Fuller lived, Nuckles said. After a weeklong investigation, detectives went to the house at 6 p.m. Thursday, he said.

Entering through the unlocked front door, detectives took two men watching television into custody, Nuckles said. They were identified as Frederick Sampson, 42, who lived at the house with Fuller, and Louis DeVicariis, 23, of Tarzana, Nuckles said.

Officers were refused entry to a locked bedroom where they heard noises, Nuckles said. He said they forced their way in and arrested Alan Sternlight, 23, of Canoga Park. Then, as Redel approached a closet with partly open doors, he saw a man pointing a shotgun in his direction, Nuckles said. Redel fired his service revolver once, Nuckles said, wounding Fuller, who dropped the shotgun.

Sampson was held on suspicion of possessing cocaine, Sternlight on suspicion of possessing cocaine for sale and DeVicariis on an outstanding traffic warrant, authorities said.
