Share

Two men were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder Monday night for allegedly firing shots at a man from a passing car, police said Tuesday.

The victim was not wounded by the shots themselves, but did suffer cuts when the bullets broke the window of the car he was driving, Police Lt. Larry Hodges said.

Arrested five minutes after the shooting were Albert Franco, 18, of Santa Ana and Royce Moreno, 21, of Westminster. Hodges said the suspects, who also were booked on suspicion of having a loaded firearm in a vehicle, were held at County Jail.

Hodges said the incident occurred at 10:15 p.m. on Orangewood Avenue near Magnolia Avenue. May Tu Lee, 27, of Garden Grove was driving west on Orangewood when a car pulled up from behind him and passed the left side of his car.

Hodges said that two men in the passing car “began shooting at the victim” and that the rounds knocked out Lee’s car windows. Lee suffered what Hodges described as minor cuts on his neck from flying glass.

The victim described the car to police, who stopped the suspects at 10:20 p.m. on Brookhurst Street near the Garden Grove Freeway, Hodges said.
