Ex-Clipper Guard Junior Bridgeman Waived as Sacramento Reaches Limit
The Sacramento Kings Tuesday waived veteran guard Junior Bridgeman and free-agent center Dan Federmann, reducing their roster to the 12-man limit for the opening of the National Basketball Assn. season Friday.
Bridgeman, 33, an 11-year NBA player from Louisville, was acquired by the Kings earlier this year in a trade with the Clippers. Bridgeman played in 58 games for the Clippers in the 1985-86 season, averaging 8.8 points a game.
The departure of Federmann, a 6-foot 10-inch center, was sealed when the Kings recently signed holdout center LaSalle Thompson.
Monday, Sacramento re-signed rookie guard Bruce Douglas after learning that Franklin Edwards would be sidelined for up to two months with a leg injury. Douglas had been cut Oct. 22.
Edwards, a five-year veteran acquired from the Clippers, had been counted on as the No. 2 point guard behind Reggie Theus.
In waiving Bridgeman, the Kings decided to go with Brooke Steppe, a three-year veteran from Georgia Tech who played well in the exhibition season.
