Monrovia : Swim Pool Financing Split

Share

The city and the Monrovia Unified School District have agreed to jointly construct a swimming pool at Monrovia High School. The facility will be financed with $270,000 in city funds and $190,000 in state Parks and Recreation Department funds. The school district will spend $100,000 for a generation plant to heat the pool water, and the city and the district will share equally the costs of maintenance and supplies. The pool, to be built on the site of the current, outdated pool at the school, is expected to be completed by next May.

The city already has closed its pool in Recreation Park, which has deteriorated because of its age. The public will be allowed to use the new pool at the school during certain hours, said Supt. Don Montgomery, but generally it will be reserved for students daytimes during the school year.
