More Hotel Discounts

Hotel chains have begun extending their discount programs into 1987.

To illustrate, Westin Hotels is continuing its program of offering 50% off regular rates on weekend nights throughout next year. The discounts are provided at more than 35 properties in the continental United States, Canada and Mexico including hotels in New York, Seattle, Vancouver, Atlanta, Boston, New Orleans, Salt Lake City and Phoenix.

Rooms available under this plan are on a capacity-controlled, space-available basis, and reservations are required. The earlier you get your reservation in, the more likely you are to get a discounted room.

Saver Program Extended

Days Inns has also extended its Simple Super Saver program for all of 1987. Under this program you can get a rate of $19 to $39 at more than 300 hotels, with rates representing savings of 20% to 60% off regular rates, Days Inns says.

You have to make your reservations at least 29 days in advance, with the discounts applying to one to four guests per room. In addition, the discounts are available on both weekends and weekdays, including holidays.

Rooms under this program are also limited and on a space-available basis. Prepayment of your first night, by check or credit card, is also required. You’ll get a confirmation slip from the hotel.

If you cancel 15 days or more before arrival, your full deposit will be returned. Cancellations made 14 days or less before arrival will forfeit your deposit. You can make cancellations through the chain’s toll-free number.

Participating Cities

Among the cities with participating hotels are Miami, San Francisco, Phoenix, Denver, Dallas, St. Louis, New Orleans, Nashville, Atlanta, Orlando and New York. You may also request a free Days Inns directory of properties or call the toll-free number to find out if there is a participating hotel in a city you will be visiting.

Stouffer Hotels is offering a Family Weekends program until Dec. 28 in which up to four members of a family (children under 18) may share a room at prices that range from $49 to $89, depending on the property. In addition, children under 12 accompanied by an adult may choose any item from the children’s breakfast or dinner menu at no charge. If you rent a Hertz car for two days, you may also get a third rental day free under this program.
