Ski Dazzle, one of the nation’s largest ski shows, opens Thursday through Nov. 9 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. A celebrity auction, contests, ski lessons, and ski films will be featured. Hours are Thursday and Friday 4 to 11 p.m., Saturday 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., Sunday noon to 6 p.m. Children under 6 free, 6 through 11 $2.50, others $6 at the door. Resort Commuter Airlines is now affiliated with Trans World Airlines and has changed its name to Trans World Express. The airline will provide commuter service to Los Angeles International from Southern California cities including Oxnard, Orange County and seasonal service to Palm Springs and Catalina. Operations will be within the TWA area in Terminal 3 at LAX.

The Travel Industry and Disabled Exchange (TIDE), a California based travel-by-disabled informational organization, will hold its quarterly dinner at the Crowne Plaza hotel near LAX on Nov. 13. The Los Angeles Council, American Youth Hostels, will present “Budget Travel Asia/Australia/New Zealand” on Saturday at 1 p.m. in the L.A. hostel at 1502 Palos Verde Drive North, Harbor City. On Nov. 16 the hostel will hold its final open house from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. The hostel will close at year’s end. Proposed plans for a new hostel in Angels Gate Park in San Pedro will be unveiled. Mexicana Airlines has begun daily service to both Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo and Manzanillo. The carrier’s least expensive round-trip fares are $293 to Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo and $279 to Manzanillo. One free stopover is allowed.
