Los Angeles police said Friday that they are analyzing the remains of a suspicious package found Thursday at a North Hollywood apartment building and later blown up in a vacant lot.
It is not yet known whether the package contained a bomb, Detective John Leone said, and no arrests have been made.
The suspicious package was reported to police at about 2:30 p.m. in the 11300 block of Oxnard Street, and about 35 residents of the apartment building were evacuated as a precaution, Lt. John McCrillis said.
The block was cordoned off for about 20 minutes when the package was placed in a bomb-squad truck two hours later. The package was blown up on a lot at the corner of Colfax Avenue and Burbank Boulevard, McCrillis said.
