Pan Am has begun daily nonstop service between Los Angeles and Guatemala City, with flights continuing to San Salvador, El Salvador or San Jose, Costa Rica. An introductory fare of $398 for the 11:25 p.m. flight is available through Dec. 14 to Guatemala City and San Salvador.

Garuda Indonesia has inaugurated twice-weekly service between Los Angeles and Bali, via Honolulu and Biak. Departures from Los Angeles are at 10:30 p.m. Fridays and Sundays, from Bali at 3:05 p.m. Fridays and Sundays. The airline has also opened its North American Regional Management Offices at 3457 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles 90010.

Malaysian Airline System has advanced the departure times of its twice weekly service from Los Angeles to Kuala Lumpur by more than three hours. The flights leave each Thursday and Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Departures out of Kuala Lumpur to Los Angeles have been advanced to 8 a.m.
