9 Suffer From Nausea After Inhaling Fumes

Nine people were taken to a hospital suffering from nausea after inhaling fumes from an unknown pesticide at the rear of an apartment in the 900 block of East Garfield Avenue in Glendale Sunday night, police said..

The American Red Cross was seeking housing for 30 people evacuated from the apartment house, Glendale Police Sgt. Jim Woody said. Two Glendale police officers, six paramedics and a boy were taken to St. Joseph Medical Center. None was believed to have suffered serious injury, Woody said.

Hazardous material teams from the county Health and Sheriff’s departments as well as the Glendale Fire Department were on the scene trying to neutralize the substance.
