South County : Sheriff Identifies Body Found Along Highway
A man whose body was found dumped alongside the Ortega Highway near the Riverside County border was identified Thursday as a Leonard Neal Bogard, 38, of Lake Elsinore, authorities said.
Sheriff’s Lt. Russ Elsner said an autopsy Thursday determined that Bogard, who was identified by fingerprints, probably died as a result of a severe blow or blows to the head.
Bogard’s body was found at 4 p.m. Wednesday about half a mile west of San Juan Hot Springs, Elsner said. A park ranger discovered it on an embankment off the roadway.
Elsner said that the case is being treated as a homicide and that an investigation is under way to determine Bogard’s whereabouts before his death.
