Newport Beach : Meeting Will Discuss Plans for Irvine Coast
Development plans for the Irvine Coast will be discussed Monday at a meeting of Friends of the Irvine Coast.
Representatives of public agencies involved in the planning process, local interest groups and the general public are invited to attend the 7:30 p.m. meeting at the Oasis in Corona del Mar, 5th and Marguerite avenues.
Terrell Watt, an urban planner and member of Friends of the Irvine Coast, said the undeveloped coastal area between Corona del Mar and Laguna Beach is one of the last tracts of open space along the Southern California coast. The Irvine Co. has plans to build a resort hotel complex on a portion of the land.
Among the topics to be discussed Monday are a proposed plan amendment for the area, possible guidelines to minimize the impact of development on the surrounding landscape, and how to become involved in the planning process.
