A 26-year-old Canoga Park man is being sought in the killing on Monday of a Simi Valley woman and wounding of a Simi Valley man, Simi Valley police said Thursday.

A warrant was issued Wednesday for the arrest of the man, Gregory Barnes Watson, on suspicion of murder in the shooting to death of Hope Rodriguez, 49, and the wounding of Jose Salinas, 36, said Detective Sgt. Tony Harper.

Rodriguez was shot in the chest and head and Salinas was shot in the face and abdomen at about 1:45 p.m. Monday in a home in the 5100 block of Cochran Street in Simi Valley. The home was owned by Rodriguez and rented to Salinas, police said.

Police said witnesses identified Watson, owner of a Northridge automobile stereo installation store, as the man who came to the home Monday and argued with Rodriguez about money she had loaned him to purchase real estate. The man then allegedly opened fire, Harper said.

Rodriguez died at the scene and Salinas was hospitalized in serious but stable condition Thursday.

Watson was described as 6 feet tall, weighing 160 pounds and having blue eyes and brown hair. Police said he is armed and dangerous. He was last seen in a brown Toyota sedan, police said.
