Man Held in Fatal Crash: A man who investigators said was drunk drove his car through a red light on Newport Boulevard Friday night and struck another car broadside, killing its driver, police reported. Officers said the force of the collision sent the victim’s car 80 feet sideways from the point of impact at the intersection of Newport Boulevard and Santa Isabel Avenue. Police said the motorist tried to run from the scene but that witnesses caught him. Officers identified him as Pedro Duenos, 22, of Orange and arrested him on suspicion of drunk driving, vehicular manslaughter and hit-and-run driving, all felonies. Officers identified the victim as David Bennett Roberts II, 25, of Costa Mesa.
