Star N Stef Returns Record $330 Payoff
Robert and Susan Novelli’s Star N Stef shocked the fans at Fairplex Park on Monday, winning the $24,760 Claremont Stakes by one length over Cubancita, surprising backers with a record $330 payoff.
Star N Stef, breaking her maiden in her 11th try, was by far the longest price in the field of 10 trotting 2-year-old fillies. In fact, only $28 was wagered to win on Star N Stef from the win pool of $5,523. Star N Stef’s win price shattered the existing local win payoff record of $182.20 set by Uncle Fox on Sept. 21, 1976 at the Los Angeles County Fair.
