Commuters Make the Change

With minor exceptions, morning traffic moved smoothly on Hill Street today on the busy downtown thoroughfare’s first weekday as a one-way street for southbound motorists. The change was prompted by the construction of the first four-mile section of the Metrorail subway.

Traffic officers reported that some motorists ignored the newly installed one-way signs and insisted on driving northbound on Hill Street, but few citations were issued. A number of bus passengers had more trouble, waiting at bus stops on Hill for northbound buses that never came. RTD public assistance officials were on hand to direct passengers to the stops’ new locations on nearby streets.
