‘JAZZVISIONS’ SERIES OF SEVEN CONCERTS SLATED AT WILTERN

“Jazzvisions . . . Made in America,” a series of seven concerts produced by Jack Lewis, will be held in early December at the Wiltern Theater.

The lineup includes “Rio Revisited” on Dec. 1, featuring Antonio Carlos Jobim and singer Gal Costa; “Jazz Africa” on Dec. 2, headlined by Herbie Hancock, with Foday Musa Suso and an African ensemble; guitarists Tal Farlow, Larry Carlton, John Abercrombie and Larry Coryell on Dec. 3; “Brazilian Knights and a Lady” Dec. 9, with guitarist Djavan and keyboardist Ivan Lins in their American debut, plus Patti Austin; “The Many Faces of Bird”--saxophonists Richie Cole, Lee Konitz, James Moody and Bud Shank playing the music of Charlie Parker, Dec. 10; Ruben Blades and Seis Del Solar, with guest Tito Puente, Dec. 11, and “The Jazz Soul of Porgy and Bess,” with Johnny Mandel conducting a 21-piece orchestra, Dec. 12.

Selected performances from the programs will be videotaped for distribution by Lorimar-Telepictures.
