Laguna Hills : Elderly Woman Dies in Apartment Fire
An 81-year-old Leisure World resident died late Friday when her second-floor apartment caught fire.
Helen Simpson, who lived at 581 Avenida Majorca, was found in her bedroom by county Fire Department firefighters. She apparently lived alone in the apartment.
The blaze, reported around midnight, caused an estimated $50,000 damage to the six-unit building, according to Dave Kinneberg, Fire Department spokesman. He said the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
