Converse Tournament : Pepperdine Women Find Life Isn’t Fair and Lose Title Game
Christine Fairless scored 18 points to lead the Wyoming women’s basketball team to a 56-51 victory over Pepperdine (1-1) Saturday night in the championship game of the Converse Tournament in Cal State Fullerton’s Titan Gym.
Michele Hoppes added 12 points and 11 rebounds for Wyoming (2-0), and Kim Buston had 11 points. Cindy Sanders led Pepperdine with 12 points.
In the third-place game:
Cal Poly Pomona 74, Cal State Fullerton 73--Debra Larsen scored 18 points and had 16 rebounds to lead the Mustangs (3-1), No. 1-ranked in Division II. Forward Amy Torczon scored 16 points for Fullerton (0-2). Transfer Bethel Lauder added 14 points and 7 rebounds.
