Manager Davey Johnson of the New York Mets, who had said he would not attend next week’s winter baseball meetings at Fort Lauderdale, Fla., unless the club renegotiated his contract, came to terms.
Johnson contended that when the New York Yankees recently gave Manager Lou Piniella a two-year contract estimated at $600,000, it triggered a commitment the Mets had made to him that he would be the top-paid manager in New York.
