11 Blocks of Flower St. Become One-Way Southbound Today

Share

A portion of Flower Street will become one-way today as part of the continuing adjustments in downtown traffic patterns to prepare for Metro Rail subway construction.

An 11-block stretch of Flower between Olympic and Washington boulevards will be converted to one-way southbound--the first phase of a three-step process to change the downtown sections of both Figueroa and Flower streets to one-way by Dec. 20.

City transportation officials said Friday that Figueroa between 3rd and 6th streets will be switched to one-way northbound Dec. 16. And, after the evening rush hour Dec. 19, officials hope to complete the changeover of the two streets.

Figueroa then will be exclusively northbound between Olympic Boulevard and 3rd Street, while Flower will carry only southbound traffic between 3rd and Washington.

Hill Street has already been converted to one-way southbound between Temple and 12th streets. The city also plans to change the downtown sections of Olive Street to northbound and Grand Street to southbound next April.
