Good News?
The Dec. 3 edition of The Times was brimming with good news from the county Board of Supervisors.
The problem of mentally ill homeless people downtown will be solved with a 14-bed residential facility (costing a mere $640,000 per year). Unfortunately, the supervisors (and your article) apparently overlooked the fact there are considerably more than 14 mentally ill homeless people downtown.
Moreover, Supervisor Susan Golding has formed a blue-ribbon committee composed of leading area citizens, including the chief of police and sheriff, a Superior Court judge, the Chamber of Commerce president and the city schools superintendent, with the goal of teaching children the safest route to and from school.
I can already imagine exciting committee meetings with these important people poring over Thomas Bros. maps, debating and voting on the best routes from home to school for children.
